All I can say is WOW. Free flight, 2 free nights in 5 star hotel (room service included if you like), free meals, and of course, most importantly, one of the best interview experiences and schools I've seen.
The MSTP is two days so you really get a decent feel for the school. First day you're there there are no interviews. Just a tour (they took us through Children's hospital which is fairly new) and discussion with the MSTP director, Dan Golberg. My interview group (there were eight) met upwards of three dozen MSTPs during our time there and had so much time to ask questions that I ran out and had to ask the same ones over and over again just to keep conversations going.
The comittee interview for the MSTP is a little stressful (it's just you in a room at the head of a table with all 13 MSTP admissions comittee members asking you questions point blank) but it's only 20 minutes. And feedback is one week. So expect to hear back the next Friday. (Ask them why Cornell's admissions director got annoyed with them this year...funny story)
I can't speak much for the MD day, but my MD interviewer (Dr. Pierce) was one of the friendlest old retired Drs. you can imagine. We just talked about everything and anything for about an hour.
I was impressed and the only advice I'd give is really know you're research experience, because that is the focus of the comittee interview and you've only got 20 minutes to sum up all the years of research you've done. They ask two questions. "Why do you want to do and MD/PhD." And "Tell us about your research." Then they fire questions at you about what you've done. And supposedly the comittee interview is the main thing they use to make their decision. Yeah...no stress ;-)
